What
does the title "MPA Princess Royal" mean? |
| Suzy |
The title MPA Princess Royal means
several things. It is a sign of loyalty, fidelity, love, and
family. It means that I am daughter of royalty, in heart, in
spirit, and of MPA. It is a title that allows one to become
a spokesperson for a cause greater than all of us. |

How
did you come to be awarded this title? |
| Suzy |
I was awarded this title during the
welcome dinner for the National 2009 Miss Plus America Pageant.
It was given to me out of love and honor by someone who is the
signature of those things. I was crowned by one woman, my
sister, but felt it came from the hearts of all the queens
present. |

How
did they keep it a secret from you? |
| Suzy |
Honestly, I never had a clue to begin
with. I was told that it was for someone else whom I thought
deserved it immensely. Everyone was in on it and for them to
actually keep it a secret was amazing. I usually sniff them out
quickly. |

When
did you figure out the speech was about you? |
| Suzy |
I knew the speech was about me when
Melissa, my sister, spoke of another queen, Queen Elizabeth II,
who gave her eldest daughter, Princess Anne, the title of
"Princess Royal." The reason I knew this is because my sister
knew my love and passion for history, especially England, and
when those words came from her mouth, I dropped what I was
holding and literally sank into my mothers arms next to me
crying. |

Describe your crowning moment! |
| Suzy |
It was funny actually. There I am, in
total shock, crying my eyes out while sitting at a table in my
mothers arms and she shakes me off saying, " GO GET YOUR
CROWN!!" People were laughing and crying with me, throwing me
napkins and squeezing my arms and hands as I walked by. When I
got to my sister, Melissa, I gave her a great hug, still in
tears. Then they had to push me in front of the crowd and I
just stood there crying with a stupid grin on my face as I was
crowned by our Ambassador, Ensie. |

How
does it feel to be a thin woman, crowned by a plus pageant? |
| Suzy |
Better than being Miss Universe. In
those pageants you are judged mainly by what you see. With MPA,
you are judged on who you are. Integrity is everything in life,
and a number one rule with MPA. And the fact that those women
looked upon me as a sister queen, looked past MY size and saw
who I was inside, was an honor I will never forget. |
| MPA |
What's
your favorite aspect of the pageant? |
| Suzy |
My favorite aspect is watching the
women come together without shame or fear of undue judgment.
They get the chance to become queens, a chance so many have said
they would never have. And they ARE queens. To be among them
is an awesome experience. |
| MPA |
Will
you be making appearances? |
| Suzy |
I will be making appearances to show
that MPA judges not on what you look like, but who you are. To
show the world that while thin people make fun of bigger people,
that bigger people look upon a thin woman like me and see inside
my heart. And that size has never mattered. That is the most
important message. |

What was it like knowing that National
Geographic was filming the pageant? |
|
Suzy |
I was extremely proud to know that
National Geographic was there. It was a milestone to us all.
We hope that with this, others will open their eyes and see that
which we see. Beauty and Grace.....Royalty. |
| MPA |
What
plans do you have for your reign? |
| Suzy |
To promote Miss Plus America to the
best of my ability. To make my sister crown holders, and my
sister, proud to have me by their side. |
| MPA |
Do you
have a platform? |
| Suzy |
I have never actually been asked that.
But my true passion is standing up for the rights of others. I
believe that is one reason MPA means so much to me. So I hope,
with the help of my title, MPA, and my sister, to help those who
cannot help themselves. No matter who they are. |

What
advice would you give to anyone looking to enter the Miss Plus
America pageant? |
| Suzy |
"What are you waiting for?!!"
