Rose McCall made history on Saturday, August 23rd and became the first "Ms Plus America Woman".  At the judges' exit interview, one judge said, "Rose is very mature with a good head on her shoulders.  She will be a wonderful queen"  Another judge said, "Confidence, Confidence, Confidence!!!  Rose has fantastic interview skills.  Her ability and choice to stand during interview spoke volumes to her ability to "think on her feet".  Rose's fact sheet was very well prepared, which is very important to a judge.  I believe that we will be hearing from Rose McCall long after her reign as Ms Plus America Woman is over."
Below is a little bit about one of the women who will represent all full-figured women for the next year.

Hailing from Montgomery , Alabama , Rose McCall, Ms Alabama Plus America Woman, seems to thrive on challenge.  A single mother of two, Rose works full time as a Video Teleconference Facilitator for the Department of Defense. Her job is to handle Conference calls for her Director to Military and Civilian Sites all over world.

Her community and volunteer work include Toastmasters, Superintendent and Assistant superintendent of Sunday School for the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church , United Way delegate at large, and Ambassador for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.  Last but not least, Rose has been selected to serve on the Judge’s Board for Alabama Junior Miss and The Miss Alabama Judge’s Board for Preliminary Pageants.

Ms. McCall graduated from Huntingdon College , Montgomery , Alabama in 1976 with a dean’s list of honors and a B.A. degree in Fine Arts.  She   also earned a certificate in Fashion Design and Illustration in 1978 from the School of Fashion and Design in Atlanta , GA.   But her passion is painting and drawing.  "I love to paint and draw and have been doing so since I was three years old! I have never had any professional training yet I have won several awards locally. It’s strictly a hobby for me and I have been offered shows and contracts to paint on a larger scale but I have never felt moved do it on that scale. Perhaps when I retire I will pursue it, but for now my job and my children are what’s most important," she says.

Who is Rose McCall?  She says it best for herself:

"I believe that I am and can be:

A role model who cares about her role and other women’s roles in society.

An accomplished individual whose diversity represents a composite of the “best” of modern women, regardless of race or ethnic background.

A leader by virtue of my experiences.

An independent and eloquent communicator with the courage of my convictions.

An attractive and poised woman with a confident and commanding presence.

One considered both talented and intelligent

A woman of drive with energy, charisma and expression who likewise takes personal pride in physical fitness and health

The motto for her life is:   Failure is NOT an Option, It’s a Choice!  "I have always seen failure as something you choose to do, because you have not set goals for yourself. Each of us has been given a heart, mind and the ability to use them both. How we choose to make use of them is up to us, but we must use them with knowledge, intelligence and understanding of the end result.
