Plus America has taken the title with 127 verified
votes. Coming in First Runner-Up with 102 verified
votes was Latasha Haskins, Miss Washington Plus America.
Second Runner-Up was Steph DeWaegeneer, Ms Texas Plus
America with 96 verified votes and Third place went to
Monique Bruner, Mrs. Oklahoma Plus America with 93 verified

Queens To Make Joint-Appearance!
The Miss Oklahoma Plus
America Queens will be volunteering for the Urban League June
27, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Ok at their membership drive and
awards gala. This is a community event and will bring more
awareness to the Miss Oklahoma Plus America Pageant!!! For

Is MPA "Taboo"?
National Geographic's flagship series,
"Taboo" will be present at this year's Miss Plus America
Pageant. "Taboo" is a long running documentary series shot
on every continent around the world and focuses on the world's
most interesting animal, the human. The series is
dedicating an episode about dispelling the myth that big is not
beautiful. Coronet Productions is looking forward to
working with this prestigious and award winning company in the
hopes of bringing understanding that being perfect in others'
eyes is not what is important. What is important is living
our lives beyond the boundaries of the perception of perfection
in the eyes of others.

Miss Illinois Delegates!
The
Miss Illinois Plus America Pageant has made a drastic drop in
entry fees for their pageant!
Because of the overall generosity of their sponsors, the Miss
Illinois Plus America Pageant can now offer the opportunity for
qualified contestants to enter the 2009 Miss Illinois Plus
pageant for a fee of $100.00 per person instead of $500.00 per

On April 4, 2009 The Miss Oklahoma
Plus America Co-Directors will be hosting a Pageant Workshop.
It will be held at Langston University, 4205 N Lincoln
Boulevard, Oklahoma City, OK 73105. The cost for participation
in the workshop is $10.

Who's Who Among American
Female Executives?
Nanette Watts was
nominated and has been selected as an honoree in the 2009
publication of Who's Who Among American Female Executives.
Nanette's selection was based on her significant contributions
to the pageant industry as a director, judge, and coach. With a
graduate degree in educational administration, the committee was
equally impressed with her accomplishments in the field of
education.
Nanette was our 2004
Plus American Woman and our second Plus America Lifetime Queen.
She is currently the Executive Director of the Texas Plus
America Pageant. as well as the founder and principal
consultant for Pageants Unlimited Plus. She specializes in the
development of communication skills and stage presentation.
Mrs. Watts has coached clients competing in the Miss USA,
American Coed, National American Miss, and Mrs. America Systems.
She will begin taping
the second season of her cable talk show It's About Time
in September. The 2009 Texas Plus America queens will co-host
the show.

The Texas Plus America
Pageant has its own scent. Pageants Unlimited Plus and the Texas
Plus America Pageant joined forces with Unique Cosmetics
Incorporated. Nanette Watts, the director of the Texas Plus
America Pageant, said she was looking for something special for
her ladies. The talented team of Ashley Henderson and Gaylandra
Carter put their heads and noses together and designed an
intoxicating scent befitting of queens. But not just any queens.
The fine mixture of florals and fruits was designed exclusively
for the Texas Plus America state and local queens. Featured

The Miss Plus America
Pageant has a new state pageant! The
Miss Nevada Plus America Pageant is
tentatively scheduled for March 20 - 21, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tracy Dawn, former Ms Nevada Plus America has joined states such as
Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas and become the fourth state director
for the Miss Plus America Pageant. We welcome you with open
arms and send best wishes for a successful pageant your first year
and in many years to come.

Miss Plus
America Elite Makes First Appearance!
Calandra Griffin made her
first appearance at the at the Torrid model search in Arlington,
Texas last Friday. July 25th marked her second appearance as she
attended "The Red Carpet Affair", a political gala to raise
money for Texas delegates nominated this past spring to go to Austin
and fulfill their duties.
August 7th is the Dallas
ISD Back to School Fair. She will be modeling uniforms and
showcasing herself, her MPA title and her position within the
district.
August 14th Calandra will
me making an appearance as a hostess at the AMC Theatre Children's Film
Festival.
August 15th she will attend
her coronation reception where she will crown the new Ms. Texas Plus
America 2008 Regina Linwood.
What a great start to the
year Calandra! We can't wait to read your first diary entry!!

Joyce Lewis made
an appearance on May 9, 2008 for the Central Oklahoma
Alzheimer's Associations "A Masque in Black & White" themed
annual gala at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel.
This event
raised a
record breaking amount of over $200,000.00 to go towards all
programs offered by the Alzheimer's Association, including
caregiver counseling, support groups and so many more. There are
more than 70,000 Oklahomans live with Alzheimer's, with someone
developing the disease every 71 seconds.

New Mrs.
Louisiana Plus America Crowned!
Lori Adams has been crowned
the new Mrs. Louisiana Plus America. Erin Littell was crowned
in Metairie, Louisiana in April but has resigned her title secondary
to an illness in her family. She will return to compete again
in the 2009 Miss Louisiana Plus America Pageant. MPA wishes
her the best during this difficult time.

into her shoes is Mrs. Lori Adams. She will be
representing Louisiana in the Miss Plus America Pageant in July.
