Lacreshia Witcher
Q&A With The New
Miss Plus America!
| MPA |
What made
you enter MPA? |
| Lacreshia |
I first entered MPA in 2007, I was at
work one day just looking online, I punched in Plus size pageant
on Yahoo and MPA popped up. I went to the site and looked at the
information , I found myself running to a co-workers office and
saying “ This is great , We should do this “ she looked at me
and was like “ OK Lets Do it” then after we made the choice she
called me later and was like No I’m not going to do it. Well I
already had my mind made up that I was going to give it a try I
had nothing to loose and only the experience to gain. I competed
in the 2007 Pageant and placed as 2nd runner up in my division
and although I did not win the crown that year I truly came out
on top because I gained so much more. I gained a family and
Friends which was something that I never had a lot of to start
with. Walking away from the pageant I still felt empty but I
learn so much about myself as an individual and I knew that
although I wanted the Crown there was so much more I needed to
learn because I could truly ware it. When I made the choice to
come back in 2008 I took time and came back with a completely
different attitude ready to learn. I showed up in Dallas
expecting nothing and hoping to gain everything, I knew at that
point I now had the crown in three places it had never been
before , My Heart , Mind , and Eye .
I only hoped that the judges could see in me, what I had learned
about myself. |
| MPA |
How did
you feel as you were traveling to the pageant? |
| Lacreshia |
I had so many emotions going on at the
time I was on the plane, I wished my family could be there but
knew that I would be meeting old friends so I was okay. I was
excited and nervous all at the same time but yet I had a calm
feeling to. It was so strange feeling so many emotions at the
same time. |
| MPA |
What was
your favorite part of the orientation? |
| Lacreshia |
The Diva Party, we all work so hard and
while we are there, it nice to be able to have a night filed
with great friends and laughter. |
| MPA |
Tell us
about the new friends you made. |
|
Lacreshia |
While in Dallas I was able to meet so
many beautiful, talented and educated women that I consider it
an honor to have had the opportunity to be in their presences. |
| MPA |
What was
the toughest part of the competition? |
| Lacreshia |
I would have to say that
the onstage question process I found to be challenging, you work
all year studying your current events but I think that is
something that you can never be prepared for because you wonder
if you studied to wrong information or if you’re going to
stutter or mess up. All that comes after you worry about making
in to the top 15. |
| MPA |
What was
the most difficult question to answer in interview? |
| Lacreshia |
I found myself melt when the judge
asked me “What do you like and dislike about America and why?
OMG Oh my Goodness what do I say to that? Then I remembered to
stay calm and be truthful to myself and my feelings. |
| MPA |
How did
you feel during the opening number? |
| Lacreshia |
Excited and Sexy it was great dance
this year, I also was anxious because I knew they would be
announcing the finial 15 and everyone was so good and beautiful.
|
| MPA |
What was
the mood back-stage? |
| Lacreshia |
Clam and happy, I was surrounded by
so many wonderful women with beautiful personalities. I was
nervous at times, especially during the point your going out to
do the opening number, you want the judges to see you but you
don’t want then to see you mess up on a move. You also look
around at all the beautiful women around you and it makes you
more nervous. Or at least that is how it was for me. |
| MPA |
What was it like knowing that
Zoo Productions was filming you? |
| Lacreshia |
I did
not worry about the filming that was going on and I did not
speak with them or see too much of them at all so I was fine. I
do know that they caught me crying a bunch of times during the
talent portion of optional competition, but they also caught me
singing along to the Hairspray songs. Good times. |
| MPA |
What was the first thing that went through
your mind when you heard your name called? |
| Lacreshia |
I almost forgot
my name and every time I think about it I get Chills, I keep
expecting to wake up from a Dream but it’s not a dream at all. I
was so excited and filled with joy. I thanked Go because I know
he was why I was standing there at that very moment. |
| MPA |
Describe
your crowning moment. |
|
Lacreshia |
Shaky, I felt my entire body
trembling, at the same time it was a very fulfilling and
satisfying moment. I felt accomplished and strong as well.
|
| MPA |
What went through
your mind when you heard that you may have a chance to play for
$ ONE MILLION on “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader”? |
|
Lacreshia |
O. M. Goodness
that would be so much fun, Oh boy I may need to study first. LOL
I hope I get picked it would be so much fun. |
| MPA |
What
plans do you have for your year's reign? |
|
Lacreshia |
I plan to work close with my platforms
and help people understand that size is just a number , it does
not define our greatness or even what great accomplishments God
has in store for your life. I will also work to help out MPS
anyway I can for the next coming pageant and its talented
delegates. |
| MPA |
How do
you plan to promote your platform? |
|
Lacreshia |
I plan to work close with my platforms
and help people understand that size is just a number , it does
not define our greatness or even what great accomplishments God
has in store for your life. I will also work to help out MPS
anyway I can for the next coming pageant and its talented
delegates. |
| MPA |
What
advice would you give to anyone looking to enter the Miss Plus
America pageant? |
|
Lacreshia |
Go for it, in life the Sky’s the limit,
we all hold the divine intervention for Greatness, however in
order to be great it’s up to us to take the first step. MPA is
like no other Pageant system because we are a family. We look
out and care for each other like you would your own sister or
brother. I always say the only way you fail is if you never try.
It’s better to say I made the effort then question yourself
later in life. I encourage all plus size women to break loose of
society’s stereotypical thoughts and views of who you are which
have determined by your size and show them just how great you
are. |

July Diary Entry
Life as a Queen is great, upon my return from Dallas I had so many
wonderful encounters with people, interested in me, the crown, MPA
and the experience in general. July was one big Blur for me, I felt
like I was dreaming and still am in this wonderful dream. Before I
arrived in Phoenix I had a layover in Oklahoma, and WOW the people
there were super nice , they keep asking me What did you win !!!! I
was like Miss Plus America and they were so excited for me, I was
like wow this is too good.
Once I arrived in Phoenix walking through the air port with Crown
and banner on people pointed and smiled and congratulated me for my
accomplishment. I started talked with people right way this month I
have had several opportunities to hang out with interesting people
from all walks of life. I would have to say that my highlight
appearance was the meeting I had the privilege of attending a
community forum that promotes healthily life style choices and self
awareness with a company called Community services PLC.
I also had the opportunity of speaking with the president and vice
president about MPA which excited them as they work with individuals
that may have low self-esteem. The meeting was held in Phoenix at
their regional office on July 16th and I was welcomed
with open arms. I was able to talk with their clients about my
experience in being Miss Plus America 2008 and how it made me feel
to be a part of such a great honor. I look forward to my Year as
Miss Plus America and all the wonderful experience I will have
failing my regain in the current year. While at the function many
people asked me what it was like to have a crown and be a Queen.
I explained to them that it’s a lot of hard work and determination
that was put into getting where I am today, however it also takes
more than just wanting it , you have to be willing to work to keep
it. I can say that I felt great after I left the meeting and while I
was excited to tell people about MPA I was more excited to know that
the people loved the fact that I was not the average Queen that you
would normally see but I was truly unique and genuine.
I also had the opportunity to visit LA so check back in the future
months to come to see all the excitement unfold.
Below you will see Photos of me with the staff
and community members that work for and receive services from
Community Services PLC.
August Diary
Entry
Hello everyone, I hope this entry finds all of you in Good health
and truly blessed! August has been a good month for me. I have been
busy getting ready for school and children getting ready for school,
with all the excitement I though it would be good to visit some old
friends at a local Y.M.C.A each year they hold some of the largest
Summer camps for low-income and homeless children.
While the Y.M.C.A services thousands of children daily I was blessed
with the opportunity to meet a young lady whom is Queen of the
court. While I maybe Queen of a stage I know when to throw in the
towel. I had a blast touring the facility and meeting staff members.
I was able to take in the experience while sharing my own. It was
great. While I did not have a chance to get one on one court time in
LOL I had fun just looking like I knew how to play the sport .
I am excited about my up coming events and hope you all check back
to see just what I have been up to whether its at the gym or
speaking for a large crowed I plan to continue to promote MPA and
the Arizona communities as long as I can.
I also have an up coming event August 30th which is
sponsored by Phoenix Children’s Hospital, I will be bowling for the
cause to prevent and assist with the treatment for individual’s
effect by MS Muscular Dystrophy. The event is scheduled to take play
at Tri City bowling in Avondale and I plan to be there with my game
face on.
Well I have to run as always I love you all very much, Keep making a
difference in the lives you touch daily and you will remain blessed.
Love always,

September Diary Entry
Another
month as gone by and its hard to believe that it’s all real. I have
had a few crazy things happen to me this month but nothing that God
did not carry me through. My spotlight appearance for the
Month of September was an event called Corks and Chords which is
sponsored my the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on September 13
2008. Held at the Scottsdale Mayo Clinic, The event was a wonderful
evening filled with great food and good people. It was their second
annual Wine tasting and silent Auction and I had a ball. Not to fear
I’m not a drinker so I did not have to worry about drinking while in
crown and banner.
The
National Multiple Sclerosis Society's second annual Corks and Chords
offered attendees well-appointed chef's samplings from valley dining
favorites such as Wrigley Mansion and Fleming's Steakhouse,
delicious wines and wonderful music- all to benefit a world free of
multiple sclerosis. The people were very supportive and surprised to
see Miss Plus America , Many people noted that they were surprised
to eve hear of such a thing , I passed the website out to many
people that show interest and then assisted in the Auction process.
I had a ball. Everyone was so warm and inviting and even asked if I
would attend more events in the future, which with out hesitation I
agreed. Once the auction began I was able to see many interesting
things ranging from Autographed pictures by Clint Eastwood and the
late Heath Leggier as the Joker from Dark Night. It was an over all
great evening and one I was proud to be apart of. September has been
another interesting month and I look forward to what the rest of my
Reign as in store for me.
As we all
know I have been waiting on a call from CBS about the date my show
will air well I received the call on Friday but missed it “OH NO” I
will return the call on Monday and will give you all the information
as I get it. Next month I will be attending the Love Your Body event
in LA October 10-12 along with another Silent Auction for MS on
October 30th in Scottsdale , the event will start at 6:00
pm and will run until 9:00 pm at the world famous Boca Dieppe’s
Italian Restaurant. I am looking forward to all these events and
many more to come.
I have
attached a thank you letter I received from
Sarah Meeks
whom I was introduced to the
night the silent auction was held, she was a sweet heart and I am
thankful I had the opportunity to meet her and look forward to our
interaction in the future.
Hello there,
I just wanted to say thank you to you and Lacreshia for joining us

October Diary Entry
Wow, what can
I say, 2008 is flying by and I feel like I am in a world wind. My
life has been going nonstop and I love it. October has been an
interesting month to say the least. I was able to fly out to Los
Angeles California for the Love Your Body Day with the one and only
Chenese Lewis and her Celebrity guest Kim Coles ("Living Single")
both of these Women are true Divas and Sweethearts . I was also
blessed with the presence of non other than Miss Round Rock Plus
America Rachael Ratliff, Miss United Miss Kristina Rowe, And Miss
New York Plus America Ashley Focer and let me tell you these women
are great, we had it ball of course we struggled with trying to get
in all the sites but there was so much to choose from. But we made
the most of our time. Saturday Night was a ball we spent the evening
At a club located in the heart of Hollywood it was fun taking
pictures and just hanging out, people were so inviting and excited
to be a part of the event in general. Sunday was great, not only did
we get the chance to meet lots of fun and interesting people we had
the opportunity to show the great talent that the Miss Plus America
Queens and delegates possess. I would have to say the best part was
showing Kim Coles how to walk like a true Pageant Queen she enjoyed
every minute of it, It was a great day filled with interviews
including So-Cal new and Curvy Girl Magazine they asked all kinds of
Interesting questions and I feel everyone that was there to show
their support represented MPA with noting less then class and style.
The Love your
Body day event was held in West Hollywood on October 11th
and 12th. I look forward to attending next year’s event
to show my continued support.
Now my next
event that I finally get to talk about is Smarter than a Fifth
Grader!!! The Show aired October 31st @ 7:00 good
old Halloween night, so what happened Right?? OMG Did you win, how
much when do you get it , and of Course CAN I HAVE SOME is all I
have heard since I appeared on the show back in July but was told
don’t tell anyone anything Win or Lose. It’s been crazy!
Everyone was like, " I think I’ve seen you somewhere."
"Were you ever on TV?" It's fun when you can say yes. I would
say, "I had the opportunity to be a contestant on the hit TV show,
'Are You Smarter Then A Fifth Grader?'." Everyone said, "WOW did you
win well did ya did ya and all I can say is I can’t tell you until
it airs.
Well here it
is I AM Not Smarter than a Fifth Grader but I don’t think
anyone is LOL My trip was a blast I got me meet a lot of
Celebrities that were walking down the halls at the CBS studios. I
have to say 1st Off THANK YOU Jennie and Sherry you two
ladies are Awesome and I am blessed that I had the opportunity to
meet you both, laugh and just had a ball. I also have to thank Jeff
he was nice enough to pick me up and On Time might I had from the
Airport and back and Forth from the hotel to the Studio. The entire
Staff at the Studio was super kind and very friendly. So thank you.
Jeff Foxworthy is the kindest man I have ever met, people always say
hey how was Jeff and I can only be honest and say down to earth and
kindhearted. I am so grateful that I was blessed with the
opportunity to meet all of these people and look forward to working
with them in the future if that is what God has in store for me. Now
what happen? I was out after the first Question , that’s right I
said I was very bad at math but asked my Fifth grader which subjects
he was very good at he said Math So I picked math thinking if I’m
wrong I have a 50% chance that the 5th Grader would have
my back. Well ladies that’s not how it went down but I had a ball
anyways. Then I sat back and thought about it “if I got it wrong and
the 5TH Grader got it wrong then I came out even. I did
not lose anything so I was okay but I did win so much more and that
was the experience. I would not trade that in for any amount of
money in the world. The way I see it is experience is what makes
life interesting, if we never explored we would never learn and if
you don’t learn from your exploration then you well never gain the
experience needed to go places within life. SO I left the show
feeling more accomplished as not only me but for everything I had
the opportunity to do while I was there. I promoted MPA and
everything it stands; I was able to talk about my current job and
what I do when I’m not in hells and a ball gown. But even better I
had the chance to tell millions of viewers whom are just like me and
you that it’s okay to be whom you are regardless of your size, you
can still accomplish great things and should set goals with the
expectations of nothing less the greatness. My trip to LA was
blessed , I was able to have the love and support of my 4 best
friends , 1st my mother I love you mom thank you so much
for all of your support while in la and throughout my entire
lifetime. 2nd and 3rd my children Jamie and
Amelya thank you mommy loves you very much you keep me going. And
Last but Not least 4th Tracy Dawn what can I say, she and
her family took a car ride to LA to show their love and support. I
will never forget all that you have and continue to do for me.
Melissa and
her Hubby thank you for all the calls it helped me get through the
scary yet exciting felling of being on TV. I just want to thank
everyone for their support and help I love each and every one of you
and look forward to sharing my November news with you all.
Love Always,

November Diary Entry
“Wow”’ where has the year gone, its November
already. Ladies are you ready for Christmas and I hope you all
enjoyed and had a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday.
November for me was quite but fun. I did not
have a lot of running around or travel this moth which was a good
thing because I found time to spend time with my family and friends.
My appearance for the Month took place
somewhere dear to my heart. Freedom Elementary,
The reason why Freedom is so special to me is
because its where my children receive their education and I was
bless to be a part of something that has been the schools tradition
for the last 3 years which is called Friendship feast which was Held
on November 26th 2008 .
This year I was able to bless the children
grades K and 1st with a Catered Turkey Dinner it was
great. I felt like it meant the most to me because I was able to
make so many people happy. Kids always make any event fun AND Boy Oh
Boy can they eat. The great part about it all was all the children
even ones that were in different classes were all amazed by the
crown and banner.
While walking over to the court year, I had
one young girl names Isabella come up to me and say WOW you’re so
beautiful and she decided to share her story with me, she too is a
plus size girl and has a tough time at school with many of her
peers, she stated that she keeps telling herself that she will one
day be this swan that everyone will fight over. I simply looked at
her and said your already there, the only thing you have to do is
Love yourself the way you are and others will in turn love you as
well. She looked at me Crazy and was like you must be right you’re a
Queen. I went on to speak with her about the pageant and my
experience with MPA and ladies let me tell you anytime you get the
chance share your story because you never know whose life you be
touching or making a difference in.
As she walked back to her class she told me
thank you and I was like for what then she went on to say just for
speaking to her because not many people do. I told her any time. I
felt good but sad at the same time because I could remember growing
up in school and being unlike everyone else, I guess as we get older
we hope that there does not have to be anyone out there that will
have to go through what we have gone through but times change not
necessarily people.
As the Day continued I had a great time, it
was fun being in a school setting were all the children think you
have super powers or own your own country. Like I said Kids are the
Best who say the craziest things out of nowhere for no reason at all
but they are the best to be around.
I look forward more time with the Children of
Freedom Elementary and the Facility they were all great and Love MPA
and all that it stands for.
As for my MPA Queens and Delegates I love you all and July is just
around the Conner so I will see you all soon. I’m looking forward to
doing some great things around Christmas time and hope some of us
can get together to make great things happen.
Ladies I love you all,

December Diary Entry
Merry
Christmas everyone and may you all have a blessed, safe New Year.
WOW 2009 Already!!!!!!!! It’s hard to believe that the year is over
and there are only 7 months to go before a new fabulous Queen is
going to be given the blessing and opportunity of a life time.
December has
proven to be a very trying time for me, with finals and work things
seem like they never stop going. I was so excited for winter break
that I did not know what to do. My life has been great minus some
stress that I think we all go through over the holidays , what to
buy who, will they like it things like that , on another note I have
had the opportunity to visit a few friends from the pageant and that
was a ball . It’s amazing how you meet so many wonderful women and
how the friendships continue throughout the years.
My appearance
for the Month of December was An Adopt a family project which was
assigned to me through my local CAP (Community Action Program). Each
year the Peoria CAP Office assists in providing Christmas gifts and
dinner to families in need. I was blessed to be assigned to the
Bersky Family. The Bersky family was a family of ten that had
recently hit hard times; Karen mother of 6 children recently lost
her job and also had back surgery which made it hard for her to find
work in the field that she is familiar with due to being unable to
stand for long periods of time. Brandon her husband and devoted day
works construction but with times being the way they are things have
been very slow for them.
On December 23rd
I partnered up with my employer For The Community Services President
Gary Slone and Vice President and all its staff members to provide
the family with Gifts and Christmas dinner, when they arrive to the
office we had a great time. I think the best part of the day was
watching the reactions to each person as they open their gifts. See
I had a chance to talk with Karen a few days before they were
scheduled to come and I asked her what her kids had wanted for
Christmas. My friend Mr. Brooks and I then went shopping the next
day for at least one thing that each child had placed on the list.
Let me tell you God was with us on this shopping trip because we
were able to get what seemed to be the exact gift that each kid
wanted.
I think for me
seeing that you can help someone in need feels good, but when you
see that the people you are helping are so appreciative that gives
you a whole me feeling. The day was great we ending in taking
pictures I just happen to have my state crown in the box with my
National Crown so I asked the girls if they wanted to take pictures
in the crown they were so excited and everyone joined in the fun
including Grandma.
It was a great
day and I’m happy that I with the help of many others was able to
bring the spirit of Christmas to a family that was not so fortunate
but truly blessed because we blessed each other just by binging
around one another.
Well Ladies I
love each and every one of you, Start getting ready July will be
here before you know it.
Next month I’m
actually being spotlighted at Arizona premier Plus Size women’s Club
called Club Fulfilled that is going to be January 17th ,
I will be signing and taking pictures this should be fun and I can’t
wait to tell you all more about it. Well I have to go now
Love you all

January Diary Entry
Hello Ladies and Happy New Year, I hope that
all of you find you year full of blessing and knowing that you’re
loved. January is here and soon July will be gracing us with
its presence I’m looking forward to seeing everyone real soon.
January has been another blessed month for me;
I had the opportunity to be a club highlight which was great.
My appearance for January was held at Club Full Filled Arizona
premier Plus Size club. The night started out just right I was
greeted by many people that received invites and was able to take a
look at the web site and see just want MPA is all about.
I also found it interesting that many of the
women that I had a chance to speak with that night made the comment
I could never do anything like that, how did you do it? It’s amazing
how much you get asked the question in life. I was like it’s
something that I put my heart into and went for it not expecting
anything but you never know until you try right? Well I have to say
that is always amazes me that we as plus size women often don’t give
ourselves the credit we deserve.
As the night continued I danced without the
crown and spent a lot of time signing pictures and smiling for the
camera. It was nice to be the premier guest at the club and I hope
the ladies that I had a chance to speak with will think more about
trying something new that will change their life regardless of the
outcome. The night was a night to remember and I wish you could
have all been there to share it with me.
Ladies I love you all and will keep you all
informed of the events I have scheduled for the month of February.

Love you all,

February Diary Entry
Hello Ladies, I
hope that all of you have a February filled with love and joy.
This month Phoenix
Arizona was the highlight with all star weekend. I was able to make
two appearances Open Gallery Bar and Grill and the banquette hall of
fame event.
The weekend
started out just right as I was accompanied by a good friend of mine, Ms. Q.
Once we arrived at Open Gallery Bar and Grill, we were able to
enjoy the crowd. I only wore my crown pin because I did not want to
risk the crown getting broken or the sash dirty but the pin in its
self is a big attention getter so I was able to spread the word
about MPA. Overall, the event was a lot of fun and all the proceeds
collected from that night were donated to the Phoenix Sun’s Kids
Camp which allows children from lower income families that might not
have the opportunity to ever participate in a summer camp the chance
to experience it all. The event took place on February 13th
2009.
The next event I
attended was the Phoenix Crown Plaza All-Star Bash. This event was
to support troops and their families. I attended with my mother and
friend Q once again. This event was February 14th and was a blast. Good food and great company, the event was a night
to remember. The event raised over 175,000 dollars and will be used
for clothing, supplies and other goods that are needed for all
troops and their family members.
I’m working on
March appearances and hope you all continue to have a blessed year.
Ladies I love you all!

March Diary Entry
Hello everyone wow the year is going by so
fast and in just few months it will be time to crown the future MPA
Queens .
My appearance this month was held at the
Harmon Library
in Phoenix Arizona, for their Teen Fun night. This event allows
teens across the valley the opportunity to come together and to meet
and make new friends through education while focusing on the
importance of reading. The teens are able to meet teens that may be
interested in the same types of books that they read and even start
reading groups.
The event took place on March 27th
and lasted about 3 hours. I was able to read a few chapters of the
Hit book Twilight which makes me want to see the movie now and while
I do read often I would have never thought of reading that type of
book on my own. The group which I was assigned to were kids that may
have struggled in the reading area but all very smart to say the
least. The overall experience was great and I have a friend who is
now going to start taking her teenage children to this event and I
will be attending with her as well. I also look forward to working
with the same group but am open to exploring others as well. I think
it’s important to promote reading but also feel this event given
teens an option when it comes to making a better choice “Do I go get
into trouble? Or should I go meet up with a group of Friends that I
can relate to without getting into trouble” most of the kids I
talked with that night had been making the better choice and for
almost 3 months consistently which I think is a very great and
positive thing. The Teen night program is nothing less than a great
program and I look forward to it long and continued success.
March as been a busy month for me with
Children , School and Work I’m looking forward to July and know you
all are as well.
My life is going okay and if anyone needs to
talk I’m just an email or a phone call away.
Ladies I love you all!

Greeting ladies , Sorry about the late entry
my life is everywhere right now , For the month of April I was able
to do some work with For The Community Services and Magellan at an
event called My Fest , the Event was held April 11th at
the Tempe Beach park in Tempe Arizona . My Fest has been created to
educate teens with or without mental illnesses about making positive
life choices. I volunteered at a booth Sponsored by For the
Community Services. The day stated out rainy but eventually was
filled with sunny skies great food and pleasant entertainment. It
was nice to sit back to see how many organizations are working
towards helping troubled teens and not only that how many teens
truly want to make a difference in their lives. I look forward to
My Fest 2010 as well as continuing in my efforts to volunteer and
make a difference in my state and further more the communities
within my state.
The following Pictures are of me, Carri Nazos
the Coordinator of My fest and one of the teen volunteers Samantha
Mendez.
Well I know that you all are truly excited
about the upcoming pageant as am I, I look forward to meeting each
one everyone of you and wish you all the best of luck, as July is
just around the corner.
I Love you all!
Sincerely Miss Plus America 2008,
Lacreshia Witcher
