AUGUST DIARY ENTRY: It
was truly a pleasure to participate in the Miss Plus America Pageant. I met some
of the most beautiful, kindest and talented women and teens in our country.
The MPA staff made us feel like family and comfortable being away from home. Becoming
Miss Plus America was a remarkable moment. The moment was a confirmation of the
path I have chosen to promote and encourage plus size women to strive for the
best. Continuing to encourage plus size women to enter modeling and to become
actresses will revolutionize the entertainment industry.
We are creating an environment for those who simply want to feel good at
their jobs as well as, in society and not judged by unrealistic standards. As
I proudly walked through the airports from Monroe, Louisiana to New York in my
crown and banner, several young children asking several questions and wanting to
be Plus Queens when they grow up greeted me. Senior Citizens complimented on my
beauty and poise. Many Women yelled “you make me very proud” and “It’s
about time!” A
special thanks to my friends and family for their support and encouragement. Erica
